Scientific Questions
Again, this might seem like a strange thing, but keep in mind, scientific questions are what lead to testable hypotheses! Below you will find an observation we discussed earlier. As you rad each question, think of the ways that it could be tested. Notice that each question generated from the observation, while sticking to the original observation, each takes you in a uniquely different direction. Notice how some questions lead to others?
Observation: Frogs seem to appear near muddy river banks and in areas where there is constantly a muddy mess.
•Question 1: What kind of frogs are found in the mud?
•Question 2: Is there a particular type of mud that attracts frogs?
•Question 3: Does making mud from dry soil and allowing it to sit
• attract or generate frogs?
•Question 4: Does the appearance of frogs in the mud require a
• previous visit by other frogs?
•Question 4: Is there a particular ratio of water to soil required to
• attract or generate frogs?
Companion Scenario: Spontaneous Generation
