Companion Scenario: Spontaneous Generation
Interpretation for Conclusion
Example
Our Results conclude that our hypothesis, Mud placed in a wire caged tub will not have any frogs after two weeks compared to similar mud container not caged; because, for mud to generate frogs, adult frogs must have had a previous encounter with the mud., was supported. After conducting our experiment and analyzing the data, we found that in all conducted trials, there were never any frogs found trapped in the cage enclosed mud. Further more, it was observed that approximately 28 days after our first notation of frog contact with the non-caged mud, juvenile frogs were seen either on or emerging from the mud. Upon further inspection we noted that a slime-like sheen layer was on the mud where the juvenile frogs erupted. We suggest the emergence of frogs from Fresh mud not only require a previous visit by adult frogs, but that the adult frogs may actually secrete some type of material that, once in contact with the mud, results in the emergence of juvenile frogs. To examine this, we have developed a new hypothesis. Slime material removed from the initially deposited mud and placed on either new mud or on sheets of we cloth will result in the generation of juvenile frogs at an identical frequency as untouched slime positive mud; because, the slime deposited is responsible for the subsequent emergence of juvenile frogs.
