Secondary Metabolites:

Chemicals made in a limited group of organisms (often plants) by biochemical reactions, not part of fundamental metabolism common to all organisms. Often these have biological activity,e.g. toxic to herbivores (e.g. rotenone, caffeine, nicotine).
